I just finished reading David Sheff's Beautiful Boy. The book follows Sheff through his teenage son's battle with meth addiction. I am certain that this book will help many people to get the help they or their loved ones desperately need. But as the mother of two children on the brink of adolescence, I am left feeling a bit hopeless and helpless by the thought that so much can go so horribly wrong even in loving families. It's a scary world out there...how do we even begin to keep our children safe?
